A Virginia man who crossed over state lines to burglarize at least two Maryland homes in the middle of the day has been apprehended, authorities announced. Manassas native Gregory Jerome Stamps, 65, is facing charges in Montgomery County after being flagged by a Bethesda homeowner who caught him on camera red-handed breaking into an area home. According to a spokesperson from the Montgomery County Department of Police, Stamps was arrested in connection to at least two residential burglaries that were reported earlier this months in the 6000 block of Brookes Lane in Bethesda. A 28-year-old Maryland man who accosted and sexually assaulted a woman during an a harrowing drive in Virginia is behind bars, police say. Hyattsville resident Brayan Anthony Acevedo was arrested overnight in Prince William County following a reported incident where he abused a woman and refused to let her get out of his car. A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Closures for all rue21 locations are expected to be completed within the next two months with going-out-of-business sales coming soon. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and then for a second time in 2017, when it closed around 400 stores. A search has been launched for a pair of Virginia teens missing since Monday, July 17. Hannah Posey, of Manassas, and Jacob Sookdeo, of Alexandria, both 15, are believed to be together, police in Manassas Park said. A 54-year-old military aide from Virginia was arrested after US Secret Service found a loaded and unregistered firearm in his bag during a security check, the Washington Post reports. Amazon Buys Land In Northern Virginia For $87.8 Million
Google and Microsoft have a new neighbor in Prince William County. Reports said Amazon recently purchased nearly 60 acres of land to in Gainesville for nearly $90 million. BizJournal announced earlier this week that Amazon Web Services had purchased the land at 5845 Wellington Road for $87.8 million. The report said AWS purchased the same-sized lot next door for $52.4 million last year.
