A man who allegedly pistol-whipped and assaulted his ex-wife in St. Mary's County is behind bars after a planned meet turned ugly and she had to be airlifted to the hospital. Mechanicsville resident John William Alvarado, 47, is facing multiple attempted murder charges following an incident late on Saturday night that resulted in his ex hospitalized and him in handcuffs, according to the sheriff's office. A minor wanted in connection to a recent incident at Great Mills High School is facing criminal charges after a trespassing incident this week, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office announced. An indictment of 16 members of a violent mid-Atlantic crime ring has been unsealed and the federal agencies are naming names. Of the 16, eight of the alleged crime ring members were arrested in the morning on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, police in Fairfax County, Virginia announced later that day. A Virginia man was convicted in the execution-style murders of a married military couple in front of their Fairfax County home, authorities said. Maryland Man Sentenced For Gang-Related Murder Involving Teen
A 21-year-old Maryland street gang member will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of shooting a teen in the back and killing him on Independence Day. Edgewood resident Rahzar Meyers was sentenced on Friday, June 10 to life in prison with an additional 45 years which will all be served in the Division of Corrections after being found guilty of murder, gang, and weapon charges.
