Disaster was averted in Maryland when a pilot was able to make an emergency landing in a field on Thursday afternoon, state police say. No serious injuries were reported after Florida resident Anthony Copozzi was able to safely put down his plane in St. Mary's County near an area farm in Clements. Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, state police say that troopers were called to investigate a reported plane crash at a field off of Bayside Road near Montpelier Road. A helicopter crashed in a Maryland resident's yard over the weekend. The aircraft went down at approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 9, in a yard on the 9100 block of Maytisde Street. According to NBC Washington, the helicopter was being used to survey power lines. A 911 caller said that the helicopter landed in her backyard. Several people were taken to area hospitals with various injuries when their overseas flight had to be diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport on Wednesday night due to severe turbulence. Helicopter Lands On I-395 To Assist Officer, Driver Captures It All
Everything is a landing site during an emergency. A medivac pilot proved that on Wednesday, July 6, after they landed a helicopter on Interstate 395 to rescue a police officer. Park police requested the helicopter to rescue a motorcycle officer who'd crashed on Maine Avenue, WJLA said. A US Park Police pilot had no choice but to land on I-395 around 6:30 p.m. to whisk the officer away to a nearby hospital for treatment.
