An arrest has been made in the October 2023 shooting of the former Loyola basketball star found dead inside his West Baltimore home, police announced Friday, March 8.
Dayrel McFarland, 27, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jamal Barney, 37, on Thursday, Feb. 8, according to Baltimore Police.
Investigators believe McFarland shot and killed Barney on the 500 block of North Payson Street on Oct. 2, 2023.

Rape Suspect Wanted In Maryland Apprehended By US Marshals, State Police
Federal, state, and city law enforcement agencies teamed together to take down a man wanted for alleged rape and robbery in Maryland, authorities announced.
The Maryland State Police Apprehension Team and US Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force assisted the Baltimore Police Department in tracking down and arresting city resident Alex Bennett, officials said on Friday, Nov. 18.
Bennett, 27, was wanted for first-degree rape, robbery, and violation of probation charges. He was located in the 3800 block of Reistertown Road this week in Baltimore, where he was arrested without incident.

A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection to a June 2020 stabbing murder, authorities say.
Darius Williams, 35, was arrested in the 2200 block of Westwood Avenue, Wednesday, July 17, according to Baltimore police.
Williams allegedly stabbed Eric Jones, 49, multiple times following an argument in the 2300 block of Westwood Avenue on June 25, 2020, officials state.
Investigators say that Williams has been charged with first-degree murder atCentral Booking Intake Facility.

A man has been charged in connection to the death of a Baltimore shooting victim who passed away over six months after he was shot, authorities say.
Gregory Eugene Young, 45, has been charged with first-degree murder after Terry Lewis, 47, succumbed to injuries related to an Aug. 2021 shooting, Baltimore police say.
Lewis was shot in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road on Aug. 19, 2021, later passing on March 20, 2022. An autopsy revealed that his death was a result of injuries sustained when he was shot.
