Shark Attack: 2 American Women Seriously Injured At Bahamas Resort
Two American women suffered injuries in a rare Bahamas shark attack. The tourists were swimming in Bimini Bay, a popular resort, when the incident happened early Friday evening, Feb. 7, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. After receiving initial treatment, they were airlifted to a hospital. One of the women, both of whom are from Florida, suffered severe injuries and underwent three surgeries, ABC News reports. Sanitary Sewage Overflow Causes Closure In Anne Arundel County Park
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued an emergency closing for the headwaters of the southern branch of Cypress Creek between Dill Road and Oak Grove Circle. An alert was issued by officials on Monday afternoon advising that the waters will temporarily be closed for swimming, waterskiing and other direct water contact. Support is on the rise for a family of a 37-year-old man who drowned while swimming in the Shenandoah River over the weekend. The Page County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Melvin Sorto, and said he had been swimming when he became distressed around 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
