Seven people were arrested over the course of six hours as Maryland State Police broke up nearly a dozen "unlawful exhibition driving events" overnight, officials say. Troopers were busy on Saturday night and Sunday morning in Baltimore, Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties, responding to several locations in the region where up to 200 people gathered in parking lots and attempted to shut down certain intersections. Police have identified the innocent driver killed by a wrong-way car thief during a police pursuit on I-695 earlier this week. Dimeka Thornton, 37, of Windsor Mill, was operating an Acura TSX when she was struck by a driver in a stolen car in the outer loop, on the ramp to Exit 18 to Liberty Road around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 8, the Maryland Attorney General's Office said in a release. Chayse Alayah Holbrook was a blessing of light and smiles that was lost just as her life was beginning, the campaign says. Her family is asking for support to help with funeral costs after the unexpected loss, the GoFundMe states.
