Wendy’s Begins Closures Of 140 Locations Nationwide
Wendy’s has started planned closures of 140 restaurants across the US. The closures are part of a strategic effort to streamline operations and focus on more profitable locations amid rising operational costs and stiff competition. Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner said the restaurant selected for closure are “outdated and located in underperforming areas,” according to CEO Today. The closures are expected to end by year's end. Wendy's E. Coli Outbreak Sickens 100+ People: Report
The number of people sickened by an E. coli outbreak linked to Wendy's sandwiches continues to climb, the New York Post reports. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initially said 37 people in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania were sickened from eating lettuce in the sandwiches, that number has since jumped to more than 100, the outlet said. Detectives responded to reports of a strong-armed robbery at the restaurant in the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 21, according to Montgomery County police. A serial arsonist is in custody after admitting to setting multiple fires over the course of just a few hours in Maryland, authorities said. In Carroll County, Wesley England, 33, was arrested and faces multiple charges after admitting to setting four fires in less than eight hours in Hampstead on Wednesday, June 29, the sheriff’s office announced. Wendy's fans in Maryland are in for a great treat as the fast food chain offers free meals to customers who dine at their newly remodeled locations, officials say.
