Lusby resident Travis Benjamin Ridgely, 35, has been sentenced to life in prison suspended to 35 years of active incarceration for the first-degree premeditated murder of 37-year-old Selena Noel Persinger in January.
Persinger was found dead inside a home in the 8300 block of Cedar Lane in Lusby with trauma to her body, reportedly from being strangled. Ridgely was later identified as a suspect and he later admitted to the murder to police investigators.
He will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 20 years of his sentence, according to Calvert County State's Attorney Robert Harvey.
“The plea and sentence were agreed to after extensive consultation with the victim’s family in order to achieve justice for the victim and bring finality to the legal proceedings,” a spokesperson for Harvey said. “Family members were present in court at Ridgely’s sentencing and provided victim impact testimony to Judge (Mark) Chandlee.”
