A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of the DMV region as wicked weather is expected to roll through the region, forecasters are cautioning. Following a sweltering day, the National Weather Service is advising that parts of DC, Maryland, and Virginia may be subject to storms that may bring whipping winds approaching 70 mph and ping pong-sized hail to some areas. Double Shooting In Montgomery County Being Investigated As Homicide, Police Say
A homicide investigation has been launched following a reported double shooting in Rockville on Thursday morning that was also possibly linked to a domestic incident in Laurel. Officers were called to the 14900 block of Southlawn Lane before 9 a.m. on Aug. 29 in Rockville, where there was a reported shooting with two suspected victims. Three months to the day that two men were found murdered at a Silver Spring park, the Montgomery County Department of Police announced that a teen shooting suspect has been identified. Judge Orders Man Busted With Illegal Weapon To Remain Behind Bars In Maryland: Sheriff
A judge ordered that a 20-year-old man arrested over the weekend with a handgun be held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center, according to the sheriff's office. Waldorf resident Jason Raymond Castro, Jr. is behind bars following his arrest on Saturday and initial court appearance on Monday, Aug. 26, officials say. A woman was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Prince George's County overnight, police say. Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, officers from the Bladensburg Police Department were called to the 4500 block of Bladensburg Road when a woman was struck by a driver that sped away. A 41-year-old District resident has been identified as the person killed in a midday stabbing in a Prince George's County parking lot over the weekend.
