An animal cruelty complaint is being investigated in St. Mary's County after a person in an SUV was spotted tossing several kittens from a vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. Early on Saturday morning, a caller contacted investigators to report the incident, after spotting the suspect in the northbound lanes of Route 242 near the intersection of Route 242 in Morganza. A 32-year-old woman who unexpectedly crossed into a road and was fatally struck by a Maryland State Police trooper in Anne Arundel County overnight, officials say. Officials were called shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, to the northbound lanes of Solomons Island Road at Route 50, after an SUV hit a woman in the roadway, where investigators noted there is no crosswalk.
