A suspect has been taken into custody after an 18-year-old Germantown resident was killed and a second is fighting for his life following a late-night shooting during a suspected drug deal in Greenbelt, police said. The fatal incident unfolded Sunday, Dec. 15, just before 11 p.m. in the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road. A 22-year-old Maryland man is facing decades in prison after being convicted of murdering Walter Woods during a drug deal gone bad in Montgomery County, the state's attorney's office announced. Javier Reyes, 22, of Silver Spring, was found guilty of felony murder and use of a handgun in a crime of violence in connection to the death of the 20-year-old Takoma Park resident last year.
