Tornado Watch Issued In Parts Of DC, Maryland, Virginia
A Tornado Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service as Tropical Storm Debby continues to batter the DMV region. Storms are expected to continue overnight, with upwards of four inches of rain possibly pouring in parts of the area, leading to increased risk of floods and "tropical downpours" as the storm continues to travel up the East Coast. A shark sighting was reported at Beverly Beach in Anne Arundel County, though the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is still working to develop details about the creature a week later. According to the Maryland DNR, shark sightings around this time of year are not uncommon in Chesapeake Bay, and there have been 41 species confirmed and document in the waters by the organization. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service one day after parts of Maryland had to contend with tornados that touched down. Hours after twisters tore through parts of the state, some residents are bracing for a fresh round of rain and thunderstorms that are expected to roll through the region on Thursday, June 6.
