Buildings Evacuated After Driver Struck Gas Meter Attached To Montgomery County Building
A library and day care in Montgomery County were among the buildings evacuated on Tuesday afternoon when a driver struck a gas meter attached to a building. First responders were called to Davis Library on Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda at around 3:30 p.m. on July 16, where there was a reported gas leak after the crash, officials say. Some residents in Montgomery County were evacuated on Thursday morning when a troublesome gas leak was reported outside an area home. An alert was issued at approximately 11 a.m. on June 6 when HazMat units were called to the 5600 block of Spruce Tree Avenue in Bethesda when a two-inch gas line was struck in front of a residence, officials said. In response, some residents in the area, as well as the YMCA on Old Georgetown Road were evacuated as a precaution, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson said. A 16-year-old will be charged as an adult after going back to the well one too many times after targeting the same stores in Montgomery County repeatedly, police say.
