Porch Fire In Maryland Sparks Arson Arrest Of 20-Year-Old Firebug, Officials Say A 20-year-old Maryland man admitted to sparking a fire that spread to a home’s porch, investigators said. Firefighters were called around 12:40 p.m. to a home on Mitchell Avenue in Hagerstown on Sunday, Sept. 21, when a fire was started in a trash can and spread to the front porch, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The most recent fire claimed two lives early Friday in Allegany County, following incidents in Anne Arundel and Harford counties. At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 21, 911 dispatchers received reports of smoke and flames coming from a home on Asbury Avenue in LaVale, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
