Maryland Home Builders Ordered To Pay Nearly $1 Million For Defrauding Buyers: AG
A Maryland homebuilder and his companies have been ordered to pay over $950,000 after being found guilty of hundreds of consumer protection violations involving unfinished modular homes and misappropriated funds, officials announced.
Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge Krystal Q. Alves affirmed a Final Order against Finish Werks Corp., Finish Werks Custom Builders, Inc., and their owner, William Karl “Harris” Woodward, for violations impacting families in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and Montgomery counties, according to Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Two drivers have been arrested months after a fatal hit-and-run in Montgomery County claimed the life of 52-year-old father Ron Franzese, officials announced.
Thanh Phan, 71, and Jose Saravia Gonzalez, 27, both of Silver Spring, face charges stemming from the April crash that left Franzese dead on Randolph Road.
Around 10:15 p.m. on April 5, police say Franzese was walking along Randolph Road when Phan, driving a Honda Odyssey, jumped the curb and struck him, forcing him into the roadway.

A high-speed street race involving a Mercedes convertible ended in tragedy and criminal charges after a crash killed a District man earlier this year, Montgomery County police say.
Owen Roland Kirill Fowler, 25, of Bethesda, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 27, and charged with gross negligent manslaughter by vehicle in connection to the Saturday March 9 crash that killed 30-year-old Jobani Alfredo Cruz, authorities said.

Four men have been indicted in connection with an organized retail crime ring responsible for 37 thefts across six Maryland counties, causing approximately $800,000 in losses, authorities announced Monday.
