Man Arrested In Purported Attempted Plane Theft At Martin State Airport In Maryland: State PD
A pilot received an unexpected passenger who allegedly attempted to steal a plane at Martin State Airport in Baltimore County, police confirmed. Maryland State Police troopers received a report at approximately 5:10 p.m. at the airport in Middle River on Friday afternoon, when Joseph Goldman, 43, drove past security and onto airport grounds in an attempt to take the plane. A police spokesperson said that Goldman got out of his vehicle and made his way to an empty aircraft. The 35-year-old man wanted in a shooting last month at the Harford Mall was captured with help from members of a SWAT team 53 miles away from the incident in Anne Arundel County, police said. Wesley Larry Lyons, 35 of Edgewood, was arrested just after 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30 by members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s SWAT Team, the Harford County Sheriff's Office announced. The National Weather Service confirmed seven tornados touched down in Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia on Wednesday, June 5 — six of them in the DMV alone. The NWS sent four teams to cities across the region to survey storm damage and found a warm front slowly lifted northeast across the eastern Panhandle of West Virginia into northern Virginia, along with central and northeastern Maryland.
