'Flash Mob' Theft Ring Hits Maryland: Four Charged in $800K Crime Spree: AG
Four men have been indicted in connection with an organized retail crime ring responsible for 37 thefts across six Maryland counties, causing approximately $800,000 in losses, authorities announced Monday.
The suspects are accused of overwhelming stores with “flash mob” tactics, targeting high-end retail items, and reselling stolen goods.
Attorney General Anthony Brown revealed details about the operation, which spanned Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Queen Anne’s, and Prince George’s counties.

A 49-year-old Maryland man was found guilty of gunning down a Connecticut father of three in 2020, authorities said.
Rashad Hardy was found guilty on Aug. 28 of murder, carrying a pistol with a permit, and criminal possession of a firearm, the Connecticut State Attorney's Office said.
Hardy was convicted of killing Ricky Newton, age 36, of New Haven, on Rosette Street in July 2020, police said.
Police found evidence of the slaying while executing a search on an unrelated matter at a group home in Maryland, where Hardy was living at the time, officials continued.…

An urgent care doctor who groped, inappropriately touched, and sexually abused patients during routine exams will spend decades in prison, according to officials.
Dr. Ishtiaq Malik, 59, of Lanham, was convicted earlier this year by a jury for targeting patients in his care at the Advanced Walk-In Urgent Care at 10800 Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, where he was arrested last year.

Man Booking Deadly Dogfights In Maryland Admits To Operating Enterprise: Feds
The Maryland man who operated the "Razor Sharp Kennels" dogfighting enterprise is facing decades in prison, according to federal authorities.
Mario Flythe, 50, of Glen Burnie, pleaded guilty on Tuesday and admitted to training dogs with treadmills, weighted collars, and fed them animal steroids as part of his operation.
As part of his guilty plea, Flythe also admitted that he was affiliated in the same dogfighting ring with Frederick Douglas Moorefield, Jr., breeding the dogs at his home and training them for years.
