What started as a fun vacation with friends and family in Myrtle Beach left a beloved father and community member in Maryland laid up in a hospital bed with critical injuries. Rick Conrad, a retired firefighter and engineer from the Hagerstown Fire Department Local 1605 is facing a long road to recovery after suffering life-altering injuries that required double knee surgery to repair extensive damages. Tyreke Brown was visiting Maryland from Jamaica when he was shot and killed at a Baltimore music club. Now his family is rallying the community in an effort to send his body back home. The 22-year-old was shot early on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Hammerjacks on South Russell Street while standing outside of the venue not far from M&T Bank Stadium. Declan Hicks had a passion for dinosaurs, loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and had a penchant for "crazy socks" before he was killed in a freak accident at an independent baseball game over the weekend.
