An 18-year-old high school student who reportedly had plans to commit a school shooting in Montgomery County has been arrested, according to police. Rockville resident Andrea Ye, whose preferred name is Alex Ye, was arrested on Wednesday, April 17 following an extensive investigation after the FBI notified Montgomery County Public Schools about a 129-page "manifesto" authored by the teen. Police say that in the document, Ye wrote about committing a school shooting and strategized about how to best carry out the act. Montgomery County Schools Sheltering In Place Hours After HS Evacuation For Bomb Threat: Police
Several Montgomery County schools were forced to shelter in place on Monday afternoon, just hours after Wootton High School was evacuated for a reported bomb threat. Members of the Montgomery County Department of Police were busy on Monday, Nov. 27, first investigating the threat, then with a shooting in the 20400 block of Lost Knife Circle that forced the Montgomery Village Middle School, Stedwick, Watkins Mills, and Whetstone elementary schools to shelter in place around noon.
