A United States Army veteran got lucky with a lotto win of $100,000 during a late Christmas stop at his local gas station. The Severn resident, a retired US Army veteran, stopped at a local gas station to pick up the instant ticket he’d purchased weekly for years after running an errand for his wife. “We’d been pretty busy in the lead up to Christmas so I hadn’t bought a ticket in maybe a week,” he told Lottery officials. The longstanding Confederate Memorial in the Arlington National Cemetery is on its way out, and public input is being sought. Families of soldiers killed in war lost nearly $3.5 million to a merciless financial counselor from New Jersey who exploited their grief, federal authorities have charged.
