Major Mall-Based Chain To Close 543 Stores After Filing For Bankruptcy
A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Closures for all rue21 locations are expected to be completed within the next two months with going-out-of-business sales coming soon. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and then for a second time in 2017, when it closed around 400 stores. A South Jersey man who graduated from the University of Maryland and went on to work in TV journalism in Pennsylvania and Virginia has been arrested on child pornography charges, authorities announced. Cleve W. Bryan Jr. was charged Wednesday, Oct. 18 by police in Washington Township, Gloucester County with endangering the welfare of children by possessing child pornography, the department said. The Navy is making headlines for suicide yet again after four Navy sailors appear to have died by suicide over the course of less than a month in the same Norfolk Navy command, reports CBS News. All four of the sailors were assigned to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), which repairs and maintains military ships. Maryland is mourning the loss of longtime Prince George's County Sheriff Melvin High, who died at the age of 78. High, who has been the sheriff since December 2010, has a lengthy career in law enforcement that dates back to 1969 when he joined the Metropolitan Police Department before eventually making his way to Maryland.
