'Devastated:' Death Of National Guard Sgt. In Maryland Crash Stuns Loved Ones Tributes have come flooding in for a beloved 30-year-old Maryland Air National Guard staff sergeant who was killed in a Middle River crash.  A Mazda being driven by Lacy O'Neill was struck pulling out of a parking lot shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3 near the 3000 block of Eastern Boulevard, Baltimore County police said. O'Neill was rushed to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries sustained in the crash. Guardsman Killed In American Dream Mall Snowboard Fall Was 'Destined For Greatness' A 24-year-old man who served in the Maryland National Guard died when he fell off a snowboard at the American Dream Mall, as first reported by Newsday. Peter Mathews, of Long Island, was wearing a helmet when he fell backward while snowboarding, hit his head and became unconscious last Thursday, Dec. 8 at Big Snow, his family told the outlet.
