‘Unstoppable Warrior’: Beloved Mom, Teacher Jessica Shivers Dies At 43 After Cancer Battle She fought ovarian cancer for more than two years with courage, joy, and faith — and even in her final days, Jessica Shivers never lost her spirit or her love for the people around her. Shivers, 43, died peacefully on September 24 at Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church after a brave battle. For more than a decade, Shivers taught pre-K through second grade in Fairfax County, Arlington, and DC schools. She later worked for an organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities find meaningful work while pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling, according to her obituary. Aw…

Motorcyclist Crushed In Maryland T-Bone Crash Suffers Life-Changing Injuries Kevin Peters suffered life-changing injuries doing what he loves — riding his motorcycle — and now faces a long road to recovery after being struck by an SUV in Maryland. In late June, Peters was riding his motorcycle northbound on Route 40 through Edgewood when a driver in a Lincoln Navigator made a U-turn and t-boned him, according to his sister, Sammy Peters.  His bike was crushed and had to be mechanically removed from his body. Police ID Pedestrian In Wheelchair Killed By Garbage Truck Near Maryland Shopping Center The Frederick Police Department has released new details after a person in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a garbage truck earlier this month. Police say that at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, officers from the department were called to the 1200 block of West Patrick Street, where they found 73-year-old Frederick resident William Arthur Whitted, Jr. in the roadway after being struck by the truck. Uber To Pay Millions For Penalizing Riders With Disabilities, Federal Authorities Announce Uber will forfeit nearly $1.8 million to more than 1,000 passengers with disabilities and refund double the amount of wait time fees to more than 65,000 others to resolve a federal complaint, authorities announced. Uber will also furnish an additional $500,000 to others harmed by the practice and will also waive wait time fees for certified riders with disabilities going forward, the Justice Department said Monday.
