Woman Fights Off Burglar, Attempted Rapist After Attack At Marland Apartment, Police Say
A Maryland woman was able to fight off a would-be rapist at her Silver Spring apartment during a burglary, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Officials said that at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, in the 800 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring, a woman was attacked from behind by an unknown man, officials said.
According to detectives from the department’s Special Victims Investigations Division, there was a physical struggle between the woman and the suspect, during which he sexually assaulted her.

A man is facing multiple charges - including murder - after being connected to multiple stabbings in Montgomery County, police said.
Scorpio Alexander Standfield, 31, was arrested by members of the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division for two alleged stabbings, including one that was fatal, on Saturday, Sept. 3 on Hungerford Drive in Rockville, according to authorities.

Several people have been charged in connection to the robbery of an AT&T store in Rockville, authorities say.
Jalonte Malik Cole, 27, Sammie David Smith, 28, and Rayvon Marquis Drayton, 25, are accused of the armed robbery of the store in the 12000 block of Rockville Pike that occurred Thursday, Aug.18, according to Montgomery County Police.
The suspects entered the store shortly before 9 p.m., announcing the robbery by whipping a victim on the head with a handgun, police said.

A Virginia man has been arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor after he was caught trying to meet up with an underage girl in Maryland, authorities say.
Jose M. Jimenez, 34, of McLean, Virginia, had thought he was talking to a 15-year-old girl on social media, but in reality, was actually having a conversation with a Montgomery County detective posing as the child, Montgomery County police say.
