The barricaded suspect who went through an hours-long standoff with police at a Maryland mall has been taken into custody, authorities announced. Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police were called around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday to JC Penney at the Wheaton Mall, where a person barricaded themselves inside the store, which had to be evacuated. A JC Penney location at a Maryland mall had to be evacuated on Wednesday morning when a man barricaded himself inside the store, police say. A man was apprehended after an hourslong standoff that began early this morning in Bowie, authorities say. Police were first at the scene shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, where there was a man who barricaded himself inside a Gladys Retreat Circle residence refusing to come outside, according to Prince George's County Police.
