The lucky Lottery player from Hagerstown claimed a $100,000 top prize on the new "Ravens X5" scratch-off ticket just days before the football season kicks off its regular season.
She mused this week that she joked with her husband about ticket, saying "what would we do if we won $100,000?"
Well, now they're going to find out.
Some of the money is earmarked for their five children and 12 grandchildren, who can expect something special, she said. Her husband also said the big win will let them "live more comfortably."
The 70-year-old winner is a regular Lottery player, and will be watching the Baltimore Ravens through "purple covered glasses" after the team-inspired ticket net her a six-figure win.
She described herself as a fan, though her passion for the team has waned in recent years. This can only help the Ravens' cause to get her back on Sundays.
The winning ticket was sold at Weis Market on Eastern Boulevard in Hagerstown shortly after the game was first released. In her words, the woman said that "something told me to go play the machine."
It’s far and away her biggest Lottery prize, she said, although over the years she has pocketed occasional scores in the $100 to $500 range.
