Temple Freshman, Gymnast Dies After Fall From Light Post In Philadelphia
A Temple University freshman died after falling from a light pole in Philadelphia while celebrating the Eagles’ victory on Sunday, Jan. 26, school officials said.
Tyler Sabapathy, 18, was critically injured over the weekend and later passed away on Monday, Temple University President John Fry said in a statement.
“The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic. There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing,” Fry said.

Drugs Worth Thousands Seized During Southern Maryland Bust, Sheriff Says
Detectives with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs during a search of a Marbury home, leading to the arrest of a local man, authorities said.
On Thursday, Jan. 23, members of the Narcotics Enforcement Section served a search warrant at a residence on the 4000 block of Vineyard Place as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
During the search, detectives recovered more than $9,000 worth of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, according to police.

DUI, Unlicensed Driver Kills Maryland Hockey Coach, Dad David Funk: 'Unimaginable'
Maryland hockey coach and father of five David Funk was killed by an uninsured, unlicensed, and intoxicated driver in Delaware on Tuesday, Jan 21, authorities confirmed.
State police say 28-year-old Fidel Villatoro-Martinez ran a red light and struck Funk, 51, around 10:40 p.m. Funk was hospitalized, as was his 16-year-old passenger, identified in a campaign for his family as his son, David Jr. Funk died the following day, police said.
Villatoro-Martinez has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license, failure to stop, DUI, and more, police said.
