Shortly after 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, officers were called to the 5300 block of Willard Avenue in Chevy Chase to investigate a burglary at a vacant home that was located on park property.  According to Maryland-National Park Police in Montgomery County, responding officers found Jose Angel Diaz-Vasquez, 66, inside armed with a knife, and he barricaded himself inside the building. Niyiraha Berry, 23, of Baltimore, was charged with first-degree murder, Baltimore Police said March 27. Police believe Berry shot and killed Denzel Brown near the 4000 block of Loch Raven Boulevard on Wednesday, March 6.
