Maryland is mourning the loss of longtime Prince George's County Sheriff Melvin High, who died at the age of 78. A man from Prince George's County was arrested and charged for attempted first-degree rape, authorities said. Ronald Chester Pearson sexually assaulted a woman in the 2700 block of Kenton Place in Temple Hills on May 2, the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office said. The victim told police Pearson allegedly strangled and physically assaulted her while Pearson was trying to have sex with the victim, the office said. She later escaped and contact police.
