Law enforcement agencies in Howard County worked together to apprehend a knife-wielding man who robbed a jewelry store, according to authorities. In late May, police say that a a man brandished a knife at a mall in Columbia, where he stole two watches, though he did not get far. Maryland Murder Suspect Who Fled To Mexico Captured In Nashville, Sheriff Says
A wanted man who fled to Mexico in an attempt to evade arrest for a murder in Maryland has been apprehended, authorities announced on Thursday afternoon. Jose Eduardo Reyes Corrales, who was wanted for first-degree murder from an incident reported in Columbia in June 2023 is in custody and waiting extradition back to Maryland to face the criminal charge. Police say that on June 11, 2023, Corrales, 46, stabbed an acquaintance during an altercation that became physical at the Long Reach Village Center in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court. A suspect is in custody after an off-duty Howard County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed in Baltimore on Friday morning. City resident Jewel Crowder, 40, has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 23-year-old Deputy Ryan Alexandr Demby, authorities announced. The Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest on Saturday. Communities are reeling after an off-duty Howard County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed in Baltimore on Friday morning.
