The first gold bar scammer linked to an international crime ring targeting elderly residents in Maryland received a harsh sentence while making history in Montgomery County. On Monday, Dec. 11, Circuit Court Judge Margaret Schweitzer sentenced 26-year-old Ravinklejeet Mathon, of Rockville, to 10 years in prison, suspending all but five years, followed by five years of probation, well above the suggested guidelines for sentencing. Man Accused Of Attempting To Kill Elderly Woman In Maryland Home, Police Say
The man who allegedly slashed a 70-year-old woman in Baltimore who required emergency surgery is being accused of attempted murder, according to police. City resident William Bowles, 29, has been arrested for his alleged role in the early morning stabbing of an elderly woman in the 500 block of Otterbein Street late in November. The cutting incident was reported shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27. The man who got drunk in his truck and savagely beat a 78-year-old man nearly to death in Frederick County will be spending years behind bars, according to the state’s attorney’s office. Frederick resident Edy Daniel Marroquin-Soma, 23, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and has been sentenced to life in prison with all but 25 years to serve in the Division of Corrections followed by 5 years of supervised probation upon release, officials announced on Tuesday, March 28. Elderly Woman Escapes Hatchet-Wielding Attacker In Maryland: Police
An elderly woman was able to escape into her vehicle and drive to the police station while a 54-year-old woman struck her multiple times with a hatchet outside of her home in Maryland, authorities said. Wendy Yvette Shabazz, of Laurel, is facing a first-degree assault charge for hitting the 83-year-old woman with the weapon multiple times the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 14 on the 30 block of Orchard Towne Court, Laurel police said. Video Shows Brutal Attack Of Elderly Man In Beltsville
Video has been released of a suspect who brutally assaulted an elderly man in Beltsville, authorities say. The elderly victim who is in his 80s was beaten by the suspect after what detectives believe was an altercation over damage to a car door in a parking lot on the 11300 block of Cherry Hill Road around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 2, according to the Prince George's Police Department. Prince George's Police are asking the public for help in identifying multiple suspects who violently attacked an elderly woman in an attempt to steal her car. The four suspects attacked the woman as she was approaching her Capitol Height home around 6:40 p.m. on March 29, police said.
