1.8 Magnitude Earthquake Reported In Maryland: US Geological Survey
The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed that a small earthquake could be felt in parts of Maryland on Tuesday morning. Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on June 25, officials say that a 1.8 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter of Spencerville in Montgomery County hit the area, which could be felt all the way into Delaware and Howard County. Tuesday's incident fell into the category of a "micro earthquake" which was felt by more than two dozen people, according to the USGS. A small earthquake was reported in Maryland early on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, officials confirmed. The 2.3-magnitude quake struck about 3 km west of Rockville around 12:50 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey. An interactive map shows the quake's epicenter between Lakewood Country Club and Lakewood Elementary School, and could be felt throughout the region. Earthquake Strikes Central Maryland Overnight
Maryland experienced a magnitude 2.0 earthquake in the area of Sykesville and Randallstown overnight, officials say. The earthquake hit at 11:49 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, with the epicenter calculated at 2.9 miles East-Southeast of Sykesville and 6.3 miles west of Randallstown, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
