$4.1M Fine For American Airlines Over Tarmac Delays — One At Reagan Airport
American Airlines has been slapped with a $4.1 million fine — the largest ever over tarmac delays — including one that happened at Reagan National Airport. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on Monday, Aug. 28 fined American Airlines $4.1 million for violating federal statutes and the Department’s rule prohibiting tarmac delays of three hours or more on domestic flights, without providing passengers an opportunity to deplane. American Airlines Cuts 31,000 Flights From November Schedule
American Airlines is cutting 31,000 — nearly 16 percent — of its flights from its November schedule, aviation analytics company Cirium data shows. The largest cuts are in Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth and Philadelphia, data shows. The cuts are based on forecasts and staffing, industry commenter and Cirium spokesperson Mike Arnot tells CNN. The airline said the cuts are "in line with our approach to network and schedule planning throughout the year."
