Alsobrooks is projected to take the Senate seat following Sen. Ben Cardin's announcement that he would not run for another term and vacated the position.
The win was called by the Associated Press, FOX, The Hill, and several other outlets.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore all but confirmed that Alsobrooks had won the race and is the new Senator-Elect.
As of 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 5, Alsobrooks had already garnered 53.8 percent of the vote, ahead of Hogan's 44 percent.
Alsobrooks' victory will not only keep another Democrat in the Senate following Cardin's retirement, but she also became the first African American Senator in Maryland's history.
Hogan had the opportunity to swap the seat to Republican, possibly shifting the Senate, but with Alsobrooks' win, it will remain in the Democrats' control as Election Night unfolds.
