A sprawling, dangerous storm is pounding the Northeast with heavy snow, crippling ice, and widespread power outages continuing to grow across dozens of states.
The National Weather Service says snow, sleet, and freezing rain will continue through Sunday night, Jan. 25, nto early Monday, Jan. 26, in the worst winter storm in five years.

A winter storm could hit the Northeast next week, but it depends on one factor, forecasters say.

“Should a large dip develop in the jet stream, then a major winter storm will climb the Atlantic coast from Monday night to Tuesday night,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bob Smerbeck explained.
“However, should only a shallow dip in the jet stream develop, the storm would be more likely to escape out to sea, off the southern Atlantic coast by midweek.”

State Of Emergency Declared Maryland With Foot Of Snow Possible
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and mobilized members of the state's National Guard ahead of a winter storm that is expected to bring up to 12 inches to the lower Eastern Shore.
