One person was killed and a second hospitalized in a head-on crash in Harford County on Wednesday afternoon, state police say. Shortly before 1 p.m. on Aug. 28, Maryland State Police troopers were called to investigate a reported crash on Route 152 (Mountain Road) near Singer Road in Joppatowne, where there were two people with serious injuries. New Windsor Man Killed After Vehicle Violently Strikes Tree
Police are investigating a Howard County collision that killed a New Windsor man after his vehicle struck a tree, authorities say. Samuel Wayne Bowman Jr., 62, was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of his vehicle on eastbound Frederick Road near Daisy Road, around 9:44 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, according to Howard County police. A second man in the vehicle was rushed to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Frederick Road near Daisy Road was closed for around four hours following the crash.

An attempted murder suspect from Laurel has been charged in connection with shooting an officer while serving an arrest warrant, authorities said. Christopher Simms, 23, shot a Laurel Police officer while police were serving an arrest and search warrant in the 100 block of Bryan Court just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, the department said. The 35-year-old officer was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment and was released later the same day, the department said. His name was not released. A man was arrested after ramming a police car, and leading officers on a chase that ended in a crash in Columbia (Howard County) on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
