Several Montgomery County schools were forced to shelter in place on Monday afternoon, just hours after Wootton High School was evacuated for a reported bomb threat. Members of the Montgomery County Department of Police were busy on Monday, Nov. 27, first investigating the threat, then with a shooting in the 20400 block of Lost Knife Circle that forced the Montgomery Village Middle School, Stedwick, Watkins Mills, and Whetstone elementary schools to shelter in place around noon. A shelter-in-place order for five separate Montgomery County schools has been lifted after a suspect behind a nearby shooting was taken into custody, police confirm. Several schools in Montgomery County were instructed to shelter-in-place following a police investigation in the village. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, the Montgomery County Department of Police advised that these schools were in a shelter-in-place due to a reported shooting that injured at least two people: Watkins Mill High School; Watkins Mill Elementary School; Montgomery Village Middle School; Whitestone Elementary School; Stedwick Elementary School.
