Two Injured After Crashing Through Guardrail, Hanging Off Wall In Montgomery County
Two people were injured near the Germantown Library when a Mazda crashed through a fence and came to rest hanging off a wall on Thursday morning. Shortly before 8 a.m., first responders in Montgomery County were called to the 19800 block of Century Boulevard near Commons Drive in Germantown, when a vehicle hopped a curb, went through a guardrail and was "suspended off (an) elevated area wall," according to officials. The third time was a charm for prosecutors in Montgomery County after a Silver Spring man was convicted earlier this year of the vicious assault of his landlord over rent, and now he's heading to prison for decades. Geofrey Gaitan, 31, was found guilty of second-degree attempted murder in April after two previous trials resulted in hung juries in connection to the near-fatal attack of Nicholas Miranda in April 2020. A family is coming to grips days after a fatal Maryland fire claimed the life of a beloved patriarch and left their childhood home with extensive damage. Montgomery Village resident Arnold Johnson III, 19, is wanted in connection to the death of 21-year-old Morgantown native Rashad Malik Alton in West Virginia earlier this month. A driver died at the hospital after being involved in a weekend crash with a pick-up truck in Montgomery County, officials say. Isaac Akomanyi has been identified as the Nissan driver who was killed following a crash on Saturday night in Gaithersburg with a 2022 Ram 1500 pick-up. A 34-year-old hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Montgomery County last month has been arrested and charged, police say. Takoma Park resident Candido Noe Rojas Rojas, 42, was fatally struck shortly after 1:15 a.m. on June 3 in the 1100 block of University Boulevard. On Friday, authorities announced that Silver Spring resident Efrain Diaz Romero has been arrested after being identified as the driver.
