Members of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to Braveheart Drive in Urbana before 10:30 a.m. on June 21, to investigate reports of shots fired, according to officials. Gunshots rang out on the Bowie State University campus early on Saturday morning, though no injuries were reported. officials say. Bowie State University and Maryland State police have launched an investigation after shots were reportedly fired in a parking lot behind the school’s James E. Proctor Building. A trail of blood from a shooting victim found at a 7-Eleven in Takoma Park led back to the suspected scene of the crime, authorities say. On Tuesday, Dec. 27 around 2:21 a.m., a man walked into the 7-Eleven in the 1300 block of University Boulevard dripping in blood from a gunshot wound to his leg, Takoma Park police say. The victim was able to be rushed to a hospital to be treated, and a trail of blood was located and followed to an apartment in the 7800 block of Kennewick Avenue. An investigation has been launched in Frederick County after there were reports of gunshots fired near an elementary school, police said. At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, the Frederick Police Department received a call for a group of males in the area of Hillcrest Elementary School who were “acting suspiciously, and may be armed,” according to officials. Gunshots were fired at police in Carney, bringing a SWAT team to the scene Friday morning, according to developing and unconfirmed reports.
