Three people have been arrested after their alleged involvement in a smuggling scheme into the Anne Arundel County Detention Center, authorities say. Briyanna Nicole Smith, 22, Orlando Marecus Jones, 38, and Elijah James Jackson, 26, were arrested after contraband was caught being smuggled into the detention facility in December 2022, according to Anne Arundel County Police. A former correctional officer in Maryland is the latest to face prison time for his role in a racketeering conspiracy to smuggle contraband into an area prison, authorities announced. Andre “2 Chainz” Davis, 37, of Baltimore, was convicted by a federal jury for a wide-ranging racketeering conspiracy at the Chesapeake Detention Facility in Baltimore following a seven-day trial. Looks like orange is the new black for over a dozen people sentenced in a federal racketeering conspiracy involving inmates and corrections officers at the Jessup Correctional Institution, officials say. The 15 co-conspirators ran a scheme where both inmates and outside facilitators bribed correctional officers to smuggle in contraband such as narcotics, cell phone, and alcohol into the maximum security prison, according to the Department of Justice.
