Gonzalez, of Gaithersburg, died on Tuesday, March 11, after losing control of his Toyota Camry on Perry Parkway and crashing into a tree, according to Montgomery County Police.

Since the crash, an outpouring of love and support has flooded social media as those who knew him mourn an unexpected and heartbreaking loss.

Loved ones say Gonzalez was full of life and that his passing has left them completely devastated.

In an effort to ease the financial burden on his grieving family, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover funeral expenses.

“We are totally heartbroken at the loss of our Steven Alejandro Bruno,” the fundraiser reads. “We would be so grateful for any help so we can cover our family’s funeral expenses. Thank you in advance!

"Alexander was a guy full of life, and we are totally devastated by this unexpected loss.”

As of Tuesday, March 18, the fundraiser had raised nearly $5,000.

“A beautiful young amazing soul was taken to heaven!” one friend posted on Facebook. “Steven Bruno, you will be missed! If you are able to donate for this young man’s funeral cost, please do so! 😢💐 Rest in peace ❤️.”

The Montgomery County Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
