The Frederick Police Department busted a 16-year-old with an unregistered AR-15-style pistol with two fully-loaded magazines this week as they continue to investigate an armed robbery that was reported in July.
According to the department, on Monday, the Major Crimes Unit and Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a home in the 5900 block of Jefferson Commons Way amid an ongoing investigation into the reported robbery.
Sure enough, inside the teen's bedroom, they found the weapon, ammo, and he was arrested without incident. Investigators are now looking to determine whether it was the gun used in the armed robbery.
The 16-year-old was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center following his arrest, where he was charged as an adult with possession of a regulated firearm by a minor and possession on a firearm without a serial number.
Officials said that the investigation into the armed robbery remains under investigation.
