Fast-Moving Fire Destroys Historic Maryland Sawmill As Neighbors Step Up For Family
A fast-moving fire tore through a historic Carroll County sawmill, destroying a multi-generation family business in hours and leaving a Maryland community reeling.
On Thursday, April 16, the blaze engulfed Tiptons' Logging and Sawmill in Union Bridge, completely gutting the structure and leaving behind charred wreckage.
No injuries were reported, but the "community lost a beloved spot, taking with it decades of hard work, irreplaceable equipment, and the livelihood of three generations," organizers said.

Support is surging for the family of Trenton Benner, U.S. Army soldier and Maryland dad of five who died on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Trent, as he was affectionately known, was raised in Chambersburg, PA but lived in Union Bridge, MD and — according to his obituary — had been serving active duty for the Army at the time of his death.

Additional details have been released by Maryland State Police as they continue their probe into the fatal Baltimore Beltway crash that killed six highway workers.
