Officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to a business in the 1500 block of Opossumtown Pike around noon on Saturday, Feb. 8, for a reported theft in progress. When officers arrived, they found the suspect in a nearby parking lot, where a witness identified the juvenile as the shoplifter, police said. During the arrest, officers discovered a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun concealed in the suspect’s jacket, along with ammunition. …

Firefighters Rescue Horse From Burning Barn During Back-To-Back Calls In Maryland It was a busy night for first responders in Frederick County, as firefighters had to deal with back-to-back calls and saved a horse in the process.  Shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, crews were called to the area of Opossumtown Pike and Bloomfield Road, where there was a reported house fire, which was, in fact, a shed that was fully engulfed. Frederick County Fire and Rescue personnel were able to knock down the flames within 20 minutes, but their night was far from over.
