AccuWeather’s new winter outlook, released Thursday morning, Oct. 2, points to a stormy season in the Northeast and pricier heating for millions.
"It looks to be an intense and stormy winter for certain areas of the country, particularly across the Midwest, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, Northeast and parts of the mid-Atlantic," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.
For the Upper East Coast, forecasters see a “bookend” winter with the biggest storms favored near the start and close of the season.

Another round of heat and storms is on deck for the Northeast, starting now, forecasters say.
The beginning of the week will start out hot with a chance of storms in the late-afternoon and evening, however, the highest chance of severe weather comes mid-week, AccuWeather says.
Monday, July 15 will be mostly sunny with a high between 97 and 100 from New Jersey to Washington DC, and a widespread risk of thunderstorms in the evening, mainly before 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather.

Bummer Start Of Summer: Severe Weather Forecast In PA, DMV Region
35,000,000 residents across six states may have a soggy, muggy and windy start of summer.
High winds, high temperatures, thunderstorms, and flooding are all in the forecast across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia for Wednesday, June 22, according to the National Weather Service.
"Isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts 60 mph or greater are possible this afternoon and evening," may hit homes in central Pennsylvania and the storms are expected to be at their worse between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., the NWS forecasts.
