Days after being re-elected, longtime Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly announced that he has been diagnosed with esophagus cancer. New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Forecasters are tracking a mid-week storm set to blast the mid-Atlantic with heavy rain, wind, and in some parts, sleet. Monday, Jan. 8 will be mostly sunny with a high near 45 while Tuesday, Jan. 9 will be cloudy with a high closer to 60, according to the National Weather Service. New HOV rules took effect on Monday on the new I-66 Express Lanes in Northern Virginia. A 21-year-old hospital worker in northern Virginia was arrested on accusations he twice fondled a patient's genitals, authorities announced. Hektor Fernando Alvarez was hired by Metropolitan Healthcare Services (MHS), a company contracted by Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, at the time of the assaults, Fairfax County police said.
