Long-Awaited ‘Gremlins’ Sequel Officially Greenlit, With PA Native Chris Columbus At Helm
It’s feeding time again.
Warner Bros. announced it’s officially reviving the Gremlins franchise, with a brand-new installment set to hit theaters in 2027, marking the series’ first film in nearly four decades.
The studio revealed the news during an investor call Thursday, Nov. 6, confirming that Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer through his company Amblin Entertainment, Variety reports. The original 1984 film’s screenwriter, Pennsylvania native Chris Columbus, is set to direct and co-produce the long-awaited sequel, titled Gremlins 3.

Volleyball player Kim Glass, of Lancaster, has been temporarily blinded and nearly lost her eye after she was jumped by a man experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles, she says in social media posts.
