New details have been released by the Montgomery County Department of Police following an apparent murder-suicide in Rockville on Thursday morning. Police say that a wanted man from Laurel is responsible for the fatal shooting of 60-year-old Gaithersburg resident Civil Jean Calixte before taking his own life during a traffic stop. An early morning triple shooting in Maryland left two people dead and another injured, police said. Laurel Police officers were called to investigate the shooting report on the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue just before 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 12. Two victims were found with gunshot wounds; one was pronounced dead at the scene and the other succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital. Elderly Woman Escapes Hatchet-Wielding Attacker In Maryland: Police
An elderly woman was able to escape into her vehicle and drive to the police station while a 54-year-old woman struck her multiple times with a hatchet outside of her home in Maryland, authorities said. Wendy Yvette Shabazz, of Laurel, is facing a first-degree assault charge for hitting the 83-year-old woman with the weapon multiple times the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 14 on the 30 block of Orchard Towne Court, Laurel police said. Seen her? An alert has been issued by law enforcement agencies in Maryland as they attempt to locate a 54-year-old woman with ties to Virginia and South Carolina who has been missing since last year.
