Community support is swelling for 34-year-old Matthew Pierson who had to be airlifted to the UMMC Shock Trauma in Baltimore with severe injuries that included a host of broken bones that he will be recovering from for months after being hit during the Gran Fondo event early on Sunday, Sept. 17. Support was mounting for three family members killed in a quadruple murder-suicide last weekend in Harford County. Sherlyn Ann Pitts, 65; her niece, Sheena Yvonne Smothers, 38; and Sheena's 17-year-old son, Jaylin, died on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Joppatowne. Police say 34-year-old Devin Brown shot them on Trimble Road, then turned the gun on himself. Sherlyn was his mother.
