Nearly 40 people accused of running a large-scale drug-trafficking ring on Maryland’s Eastern Shore were indicted following a massive five-month investigation by local, state, and federal law enforcement, authorities announced.
The operation, led by Wicomico Narcotics—a collaboration between the Maryland State Police, Fruitland Police Department, Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration—dismantled a network accused of distributing cocaine, fentanyl, and other drugs across Wicomico, Dorchester, and Baltimore counties.

A Baltimore man who carjacked a police detective at gunpoint and fled in his unmarked vehicle will spend the next 12 years in federal prison, authorities announced.
Trevon Gardner, 23, was sentenced Friday, Dec. 6, by U.S. District Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher to 12 years behind bars, followed by five years of supervised release, for the armed carjacking of Baltimore Police Department Detective Aaron Cain, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
The incident occurred on May 3, 2022, at a 7-Eleven store on South Hanover Street in Baltimore’s Cherry Hill neighborhood.

A traffic stop on I-70 turned into a major bust when Frederick County Sheriff's deputies recovered a loaded handgun and significant quantities of cocaine and heroin, leading to the arrest of six people.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, around 9:12 p.m., deputies stopped a Volkswagen Routan near Monocacy Boulevard for equipment and moving violations, officials said.
Upon spotting drug paraphernalia in plain view, officers searched the vehicle and its six occupants, uncovering a loaded .45 caliber pistol, 264 grams of suspected cocaine, 100 grams of suspected heroin, and additional paraphernalia.

Callen Baker, 21, of Jefferson, was sentenced by a Circuit Court judge to 400 years in prison, with all but 30 suspended following a shooting in March 2023.
